Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion Review

This summer my skin has been through three distinct phases: Dry, Extra Dry, and Sahara Desert Dry. Not the glow-up anyone asks for. The worst of it lives on the bottom part of my forearms, which I’m convinced has something to do with resting them on my wheelchair armrests all day. That’s a lot of friction and pressure on the same patch of skin, day in and day out, and my skin has clearly filed a complaint. So instead of just staring at the graveyard of lotions on my shelf, I decided to actually put them to work. First up: Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion.

Let’s start with the smell, because it’s the first thing that hugs you. Soft, wispy, sophisticated. Even as a young girl, if I saw a woman in a movie sitting at her vanity, smoothing lotion onto her arms in that slow, unbothered way, I could just tell it smelled expensive. Luxurious. Like she had her whole life together. Scent has always done that to me, it transports me somewhere else entirely. Clarins has that exact scent. The one from the movies. I used it at night after my shower, and it was still lingering the next day. That’s some kind of wonderful magic.

And let’s be clear: this lotion did its job beautifully. Every single shower, it went straight on, elegant as it was. That Miami pool water was not playing fair this summer, all that chlorine coming for my skin day after day, and Clarins held its ground. My skin felt soft, calm, taken care of. This was chlorine versus lotion, and Clarins won. The catch was I only had the one small bottle, and with a house already full of half-used lotions, buying another felt a little indulgent. So if your dry is “regular dry,” one bottle goes a long way. If your dry is like mine, and you’re fighting pool chemicals all summer too, you’ll want to stock up.

Now here’s where the luxury actually earns its keep: the bottle is easy to open. A vanity moment shouldn’t come with a wrestling match, and Clarins gets that. Not everyone has full grip strength, and a lotion that fights you before you even get to use it is a lotion that’s already failed, no matter how expensive it looks sitting on the counter. Whether you’ve got arthritis, tremors, or just a bad wrist day, this bottle isn’t going to be the thing standing between you and your movie-star moment. More brands need to think like this.

My only real gripe: I had the smallest bottle they make, and I ran through my little taste of luxury in a week flat. That’s not a knock on the product, that’s a knock on my Sahara Desert Dry skin needing more than a sample-sized pour. Something tells me if I’d had the full-size bottle, this review would’ve had an even more luxurious ending. It’s worth it. I just need more of it.

Now, let’s talk about the price, because luxury doesn’t come cheap and Clarins isn’t pretending otherwise. This isn’t a drugstore impulse buy. But some things are worth saving up for, and this is one of them. Santa, if you’re reading this, you know what to put under the tree. The big bottle. If I’ve been good this year (debatable, but let’s not get into that), you know what to do. Don’t play with me.

Diva Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A little taste of luxury, a scent straight out of the movies, and a bottle that actually respects your hands. It did the job so well I went through it in a week. Bigger bottle, more of this good thing.
