Picture this: the sun is shining, the sky is a perfect shade of blue, and you’re lounging by a stunning pool on the ninth floor of the Loews Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. Sounds like paradise, right? But what makes this even more extraordinary is that it’s not just any pool day—it’s an inclusive, accessible pool day thanks to ResortPass and the fantastic amenities at Loews Hotel.

Splash into Accessibility with ResortPass

ResortPass is your golden ticket to a day of luxury without the commitment of an overnight stay. It’s an app that opens up a world of possibilities, allowing you to book day passes to upscale hotels and resorts, granting you access to their pools, spas, and other amenities. For wheelchair users, finding a truly accessible pool can be a challenge, but ResortPass is changing the game.

I didn’t want to drive far and I knew I definitely didn’t want to go to Miami Beach. As a Florida resident, Miami Beach doesn’t appease me at all. The parking is a nightmare and everything is overpriced. Furthermore, it’s not the friendliest for access. Many times, you will see a disabled influencer praising Miami Beach but they probably have VIP to the hotel, parking, and access.

Once I found the hotels within my desire driving distance, I spotted Loews. I didn’t take their website’s word on having a pool lift. I called them myself asking them to please check. The person on the phone placed me on hold while she checked. Once she gave me the okay, I booked it on ResortPass.

Loews Hotel: A Haven of Accessibility in Coral Gables

Nestled in the heart of Coral Gables, the Loews Hotel is a gem that promises more than just a typical poolside experience. This place is all about inclusivity and luxury. Here’s why:

  1. Pool and Jacuzzi Lifts: Loews Hotel has thought of everything. With lifts for both the pool and the jacuzzi, you can easily transfer in and out of the water with confidence and ease. Say goodbye to the days of feeling left out; here, everyone gets to enjoy the water.

I called that same morning to confirm that the pool lift worked and I reminded them that I had booked with ResortPass so if the pool lift didn’t work, I would need to cancel the booking. They placed me on hold, and returned with a positive YES! So off we went.

But I want to be clear about their pool lift. You will still need some assistance if you don’t have strong upper body. The pool lift doesn’t raise up to my wheelchair’s seat. It was off by maybe an inch or two. However, I removed my wheelchair armrest and slid into the seat. Not all pool lifts are the same. I’ve used better lifts and worse lifts. This one was good. I used it twice that day.
  2. Accessible Hotel Rooms: Planning to extend your stay? The accessible hotel rooms are designed with your needs in mind. Spacious, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities, these rooms ensure a relaxing and hassle-free experience. There are photos on their website so you can actually see the accommodations. There’s no roll in shower. But they have a shower bench.

I was there solely for the purpose of the pool. However, when I got home. I checked out their website. They actually have an accessible room on the same floor as the pool! Do you have any idea how excited I was? I’m about thirty minutes away from the hotel. So this is a great place for me. Maybe I can make this hotel my writing getaway retreat.
  3. Stunning Views and Serene Ambiance: Perched on the ninth floor, the pool area offers breathtaking views that make you forget you’re in the middle of Coral Gables. The lush surroundings and serene ambiance transport you to a tropical paradise, perfect for unwinding and soaking up the sun.

While I was in the pool, it felt like a day on a cruise ship. Everything was accessible. The people at the pool were well behaved. I didn’t have to worry about horse playing or people taking out their phones to record me. It was a slice of heaven.

Luxurious Extras: Food, Drinks, and Service

What’s a pool day without some pampering? At Loews Hotel, you’re in for a treat:

  • Poolside Bar and Dining: Craving a cocktail or a delicious snack? The poolside bar has got you covered. Sip on your favorite drink and indulge in tasty bites without having to leave your comfy lounge chair. Thank you, Brandon and Alejandro for making my stay fantastic.
  • Top-Notch Service: The pool staff are attentive and friendly, ensuring you have everything you need. Need sunscreen or a towel? They’ve got you covered. How about some refreshing water? No problem. The service here is all about making your day as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

I don’t let anyone drive my car. So even though ResortPass covers valet parking, I parked in the parking garage. Megan Vandenbosch, the director at Loews, was understanding about the situation. She was able to validate my parking ticket.

Furthermore, Brandon, who worked the pool area, was amazing. He was polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. Thank you for that.
  • Great Value: Considering the level of luxury and the fantastic amenities, the price of a day pass through ResortPass is unbeatable. It’s an affordable way to treat yourself to a day of fun and relaxation in a top-tier setting.

Each hotel has different pricing. Loews was $35 per adult. That’s fantastic.
